Rebels could pursue Penn State players

Unprecedented sanctions handed down from the NCAA to the Penn State football program Monday will not only affect the Nittany Lions and first-year coach Bill O’Brien, but also several other schools across the nation.

Ole Miss is just one of the many schools which could possibly augment its roster in the future through transfers associated with the loss of scholarships and bowl bans handed down by the NCAA. In a release, the NCAA said it would provide appropriate and immediate relief of some NCAA rules for all eligible football student-athletes. (more…) (July 24, 2012, Page 6)

    Gaskins scores 24 in Rebels’ victory

    Just call Trevor Gaskins the rainmaker because it was raining 3s at the C.M. “Tad” Smith Coliseum on Friday evening.

    Gaskins knocked down six of 11 3-pointers to finish with a career-high 24 points as the Ole Miss Rebels men’s basketball team topped Big Ten opponent Penn State 84-71. (November 29, 2010, Page 4B)

        Ole Miss men set to host Battle, Penn State

        The Ole Miss men’s hoops squad will look to get back on track Friday, hosting Big Ten opponent Penn State at 6 p.m.
        The Nittany Lions (4-0 overall) enter Friday’s matchup at the C.M. “Tad” Smith Coliseum fresh off of a 77-61 win over Central Connecticut State on Monday.

        Leading Penn State offensively is senior forward Jeff Brooks and senior point guard Talor Battle. Brooks is averaging a team-high 17.0 points per game. (November 25, 2010, Page 8A)
