OHS teams dominate at Region 1-5A meet
Oxford’s dominance on the track continued on Saturday at Bobby Holcomb Field as the Chargers and Lady Chargers both won the Region 1-5A track championships.
The Lady Chargers took first place by totaling 209 points, more than double second-place finisher New Hope, which finished with 93 points. Oxford’s boys also dominated from a points total as the Chargers racked up 238.5 points, almost 150 points more than second-place finisher Hernando (90). (more…) (May 2, 2011, Page 4B)
Oxford teams shine in Division 2-5A meet
Led by outstanding individual efforts from Sam Kendricks, Justin Fondren and Kristen Dickerson, the Oxford boys and girls track teams easily won the Division 2-5A meet at Oxford’s Bobby Holcomb Field on Saturday.
The Chargers totaled 150 points, 112 more than second-place finisher West Point. New Hope was third in the boys meet with 31 points, while Saltillo finished fourth with 23. The Lady Chargers finished with 133 points, more than double second-place finisher New Hope with 66. Saltillo was third with 24, while West Point was fourth with 16. (April 25, 2011, Page 1B)
Oxford Chargers claim Daily Journal Relays title
Oxford’s boys track team defeated Tupelo to win the title at the Daily Journal Relays on Saturday. The Chargers totaled 202 points compared to Tupelo’s 168 point total to capture the crown. (more…) (April 18, 2011, Page 2B)
Good field of athletes on tap at Ole Miss invitational
Some of the best college and pro track athletes will be on display as they compete in the annual Ole Miss Invitational on Saturday. OMS Chargers dominate latest track meet
Dominant was the best word to describe the Oxford Middle School boys track team on Thursday. The Chargers won the OMS Relays at Bobby Holcomb Field by scoring 99 points. Lafayette was second with 44 points.

Chargers, Lady Chargers compete at MSU

Oxford fares well at OMS Invitational
Oxford’s middle school boys track team continued to shine Thursday at the annual OMS Track Invitational held at Bobby Holcomb Field. Six other schools competed against Oxford in the event, including Grenada, Pontotoc, New Albany, Senatobia, Hills Chapel, Marietta School and Guntown. The Chargers won the meet followed by Grenada. Oxford teams capture EAGLE titles
Rain over the weekend could only postpone, not prevent, the Oxford Chargers and Lady Chargers from winning the 10th annual EAGLE Invitational on Monday at Bobby Holcomb Field.
While the meet was scheduled for Saturday and pushed back two days, the delay didn’t matter as the Chargers totaled 229 points to capture the title, while the Lady Chargers finished with 143.5 points. (more…) (March 29, 2011, Page 8)
EAGLE Invitational has several top teams
Some of the best track teams in North Mississippi will converge on Oxford’s Bobby Holcomb Field Saturday for the 10th annual EAGLE Invitational on Saturday.
