As parents and students came from all over to visit the University of Mississippi during orientation this year, they stayed in hotels and dined in Oxford’s restaurants, making the 2 percent tourism tax totals climb during the month of June. Tourism Manager Mary Allyn Hedges presented the figures for the hotel/motel tax and 2 percent food and beverage tax for the month of June during Wednesday’s Oxford Tourism Council meeting.
