    OTC announces grant recipients

            Visit Oxford plans for future

              Tourism tax numbers increase in June

              As parents and students came from all over to visit the University of Mississippi during orientation this year, they stayed in hotels and dined in Oxford’s restaurants, making the 2 percent tourism tax totals climb during the month of June.  Tourism Manager Mary Allyn Hedges presented the figures for the hotel/motel tax and 2 percent food and beverage tax for the month of June during Wednesday’s Oxford Tourism Council meeting. (August 22, 2013, Page 1,2)

                Tourism seeks more ad funds

                The Oxford Tourism Council made a motion of support Wednesday during its regular for Visit Oxford in its quest to gain $100,000 in its budget for advertising to promote tourism. Also during the meeting, numbers were presented that showed the 2 percent food and beverage tax and the hotel/motel tax hit record highs in April. (July 18, 2013, Page 1)

                  Some cooks turn nose up at fest’s rules

                    Wanted: More visitors, more often

                    Local officials and business leaders heard how Oxford could improve its tourism during a presentation of survey results from research conducted recently by Young Strategies, hired by the Oxford Convention and Visitor’s Bureau last year to find ways to improve tourism in Oxford. (February 22, 2013, Page 1A)
