Parking commission approves changes

During its regular meeting Friday, the commission agreed on ordinance changes to the current laws that increase the two-hour parking restrictions from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The new ordinance also changes the fine structure for violating the two-hour parking restriction. (August 13, 2012, Page 1)

                  Plan: No Parking on Square

                  Architect Edye Conkerton was asked by city officials to look at ways to beautify Oxford’s central business district. The plan calls for making the Square more pedestrian friendly by getting rid of 170 parking spaces. The project would only move forward if and when a new parking garage is constructed near the Square. (August 4, 2010, Page 1)

                    Square parking changes?

                    Parking patterns in the evening could be dramatically different than during the day around the Oxford Square if some of the options being considered to improve safety are passed.
