U13 Rays place third at NIT Tournament

The Oxford Rays 13-and-under traveling baseball team concluded its season recently with a third place finish at the June Jam USSSA NIT Tournament held at Southaven.

In the tournament, the Rays (16-11-2 overall) went 3-1 in the 14-team tournament and were eliminated in the semifinals.

The Rays claimed the first three games, defeating the Strike Zone Stixx 6-3, St. Louis Hawks 9-4 and DeSoto Cardinals 3-2, before falling to the Tupelo Rangers 6-1. (June 29, 2010, Page 9)

    Oxford Rays capture title in New Albany

    The past two weekends have been successful ones on the diamond for one of the local USSSA teams, the Oxford Rays. Oxford went 4-0 to capture the Battle of New Albany title a week after finishing 2-2-1 in the Papa John’s Battle of Oxford at FNC Park. (June 2, 2010, Page 7)

      Oxford Rays capture title in Tupelo tourney

      The Oxford Rays won the 2010 Gumtree 14-and-Under AA Classic held at Ballard Park in Tupelo recently. The Rays are a 13-and-Under USSSA team composed of players from the Oxford area.

      Oxford rebounded from a 7-2 loss to the Tupelo Rangers in the opener and a 10-0 loss to the Tri County Outlaws to then win three games in a row. Oxford defeated the North Mississippi Angels 9-5, the Outlaws 8-1 and the Rangers 2-1 in the title game in eight innings. (May 11, 2010, Page 10)
