Fake officer behind road killings?

Two recent murders on north Mississippi highways may have been at the hand of someone posing as a police officer, according to the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations. (May 15, 2012, Page 1, 2)

    OPD seizes 1 lb. of pot; $33K in cash

    Oxford police officers uncovered more than a pound of marijuana and $33,398 in cash after conducting a traffic stop Monday night on Highway 6 East. Two Memphis men, Larry L. Miller and Rojard M. Lake, are in the Lafayette County Detention Center charged with possession of more than 30 grams of marijuana. (March 21, 2012, Page 2)

        Roberts named Officer of the Year

        Capt. Darren Roberts, with the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department received the Officer of the Year award Tuesday night during the annual Lafayette County Law Enforcement Officers Association’s awards dinner. Linda Sockwell, parking enforcer with the Oxford Police Department won the Support Personnel of the Year award. (February 9, 2012, Page 1)

            No DUI arrests in Oxford on New Year’s Eve

            The Oxford Police Department reported no arrests for DUI on New Year’s Eve and no serious or fatal wrecks. However, around the state, three Mississippians lost their lives in wrecks over the holiday weekend. (January 3, 2012, Page 1)

                Cambridge resident shoots suspected burglar

                The Oxford Police Department is investigating a burglary that happened early this morning at Cambridge Station Apartments that left one suspect shot in the leg by a female when she returned home and found him in the apartment. OPD apprehended the suspect who is at the hospital being treated for his injuries. The second suspect is still at large. (December 2, 2011, Page 9A)

                    OPD investigated robbery
