Cambridge resident shoots suspected burglar

The Oxford Police Department is investigating a burglary that happened early this morning at Cambridge Station Apartments that left one suspect shot in the leg by a female when she returned home and found him in the apartment. OPD apprehended the suspect who is at the hospital being treated for his injuries. The second suspect is still at large. (December 2, 2011, Page 9A)

      OPD investigated robbery

      The Oxford Police Department is still searching for the man who robbed Cash Advance on Monday afternoon. The suspect fled the scene with an unknown amount of cash. No one was injured and no weapon was presented, only implied. (November 22, 2011, Page 2)

            Highway 6 wreck claims life of local business man

              Metro Narcotics busts 25 on drug charges

              The Lafayette County Metro Narcotics Unit, along with other area law enforcement agencies arrested 22 Oxford residents on various drug sale charges, with crack sales heading up the list. The arrests were part of an undercover operation called, “Operation Knight Rider.”  Another three were arrested this weekend in an unrelated investigation. (October 19, 2011, Page 2)

                DA files response to Mize complaint

                Circuit Court Judge John A. Gregory has set a date for a probable cause hearing in the case against Oxford Police Assistant Chief Joey East by Oxford electrician Bubba Mize and the District Attorney’s Office filed a response to Mize’s motion to dismiss. (October 18, 2011, Page 2)

                  Game day weekend keeps police busy

                  Local law enforcement officers had little time to rest during the biggest SEC football home-game weekend thus far this season.

                    Some alarmed by fire code inspections

                    While few violations were found on the Square, city fire inspectors were double checking occupancy levels at many restaurants and bars on the Square on Thursday night. These inspections are expected to continue through the weekend.
