    New tennis courts coming

      Plans for official BMX track off course

      The BMX track built through a Mississippi Department of Transportation grant at FNC Park will probably remain a place for kids to ride their bicycles downa few dirt hills after a state Attorney General’s opinion blocked efforts to make the track an official BMX-sanctioned race track. (August 6, 2013, Page 2)

        OPC asks to add staff person

        More budget hearing continued this week with the Oxford Park Commission and several other recreational departments presenting their budgets to the Board of Aldermen for review. OPC Director Rob Boyd is requesting another full-time staff person to help manage the growing OPC. (August 2, 2013, Page 2A)

            Events encourage people to get outdoors

            Oxford Park Commission celebrates national Get Outdoors Day from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Pat Lamar Park. Various activities will be held for both children and adults, from children’s fishing in Lake Patsy to football tosses, face painting, camping and hiking and the Art-to-Go will be on hand. Includes collaboration between Leadership Lafayette, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Ole Miss Outdoors, U.S. Forestry Service, Boys and Girls Scouts, the Lafayette County 4-H club and Volunteer Oxford. (June 7, 2013, Page 3A)

                YMCA looks at Oxford
