Luber, Knotts score four apiece in wins

Kurre Luber and Shelby Knotts both scored four goals apiece to help lead their respective teams to wins in Oxford Park Commission youth soccer action Monday night at FNC Park. Luber’s four goals came in a 6-1 win for the Under-10 Galaxy over the Earthquakes, while Knott’s four goals came in a 5-2 win for the U-12 Galaxy over Sounders.     Freeman, Luber combine to lift Galaxy

      Strikers claim victory in Tupelo tournament

      The Oxford Strikers, an Under 12 DII Challenge Soccer Team, won the March Madness DII Classic Soccer Tournament in Tupelo this past weekend. It was the first tournament victory for the Strikers since the formation of the team in 2007. Oxford won its pool by defeating New Albany 3-1, Amory 4-0 and Columbus 3-0.         Calhoon, Morgan pace Tornados in win

          Hollis, Chandler pace U-12 Galaxy in win

          Nick Hollis and Neil Chandler combined for seven goals to lift the Under-12 Galaxy past the Tornados 9-5 in Oxford Park Commision youth soccer action Monday night. In the other U-12 boys game, Cole Calhoon netted all five of the Earthquake’s goals in a 5-0 victory over the Wizards. In the U-12 girls division, United tied the Crew 1-1 and the Tornados defeated the Galaxy 2-1.

          In the U-10 boys division the Tornados wrapped up the Sounders 4-3 and the Wizards topped the Crew 3-2.

          In the U-10 girls division, United snuck past the Galaxy 2-0 and the Earthquake beat the Crew 3-1. (March 1, 2011, Page 8)

              U-10 Earthquakes cruise past Galaxy

              Addie Thompson and Ruthie Jenkins both scored four goals to help lead the Under-10 Earthquakes to a 9-5 win over the Galaxy Monday night at FNC Park. In the other Under-10 girls game, the Sounders topped the Fire 3-1. In two Under-10 boys league games, the Galaxy blanked the Sounders 7-0, while the United shut out the Crew 6-0. In the Under-12 girls league, the Crew beat the Sounders 3-0, while the Tornados topped United 3-0. (February 22, 2011, Page 7)

                Thompson scores five to lift ‘Quakes past Sounders

                  Volleys, Spinners tie

                  Neither the Volleys nor the Spinners could get one-up the other during last Thursday’s Oxford Park Commission’s junior team tennis action, tying 2-2.  Anne Hardy earned the lone singles match point for Spinners. Ryan Mounce and Jonathan Masters earned the No. 1 doubles point, while John Tate Roberts and Avery Atkinson earned the No. 3 doubles point for the Volleys.                     Rock’s four goals lift U-12 Wizards to win

                    Kyle Rock’s four goals led the Under-12 boys Wizards to a 6-2 victory over the Tornados in Oxford Park Commission action on Tuesday.

                    In the other U12 boys game the Galaxy cruised past the Sounders 8-0.

                    In the U10 girls league, United top the Galaxy 6-0 and the Sounders defeated the Earthquake 2-0. In the U12 girls league, the Crew topped the Sounders 1-0, United and the Tornados played to a 0-0 tie, and the Galaxy defeated the Crew 6-0. (October 6, 2010, Page 8)
