OPC HOOPS REGISTRATION

The Oxford Park Commission’s youth basketball registration ends Oct. 7.

The youth basketball league is co-ed and is for children 5-15 years old. The cost is $40 per child. Register at the OPC main office on 310 South 15th St. (September 30, 2011, Page 7A)

    Joiner lifts 11-12 Grizz past Lakers

    Led by Jarkel Joiner’s 25 points, the 11-12 year-old Grizzlies defeated the Lakers 34-31 in the Oxford Park Commission’s Shootout Championship.

    In the other action from final stages of the Championship, the Suns beat the Celtics 44-18 in the other 11-12 game. In the 7-8 league, the Lakers edged the Bulls 21-20, while the Jazz downed the Thunder 20-15. In the 9-10 league, the Heat beat the Lakers 19-11, while the Mavericks topped the Thunder 30-23. (February 22, 2011, Page 8)

      9-10 Lakers blank Bulls in first round of Shootout

      An impressive defensive effort helped lift the 9-10 year-old Lakers to a 19-0 win over the Bulls in the first round of Oxford Park Commission Shootout Championships held Saturday. In the other 9-10 youth basketball game, the Heat beat the Grizzlies 29-16, the Thunder pounded the Suns 34-8, while the Mavericks beat the Celtics 23-12.

      In four 7-8 games, the Jazz topped the Heat 19-12, the Thunder defeated the Celtics 20-16, the Bulls edged Suns 10-8, while the Lakers beat Grizzlies 25-15. In the 11-12 league, the Lakers got by the Bulls 31-24, the Celtics edged the Thunder 38-35, while the Grizzlies topped the Heat 34-18. (February 15, 2011, Page 7)

        7-8 Jazz top Lakers to remain perfect

        The Jazz defeated the Lakers 16-14 to finish the 7-8 year-old Oxford Park Commission season with an 8-0 record.

        In the other 7-8 game, the Thunder edged the Suns 10-8.

        In the 9-10 game, the Mavericks topped the Lakers 17-15, while the Thunder beat the Celtics 27-21. (February 9, 2011, Page 10)

          Burt, Threlkeld lift 13-15 Celtics to OPC league championship

          Led by 17 points from Keke Burt and 14 points from Stone Threlkeld, the 13-15 year-old Celtics claimed their league’s championship with a 62-27 victory over the Grizzlies on Friday. In the other 13-15 games, the Grizzlies topped the Lakers 41-35 and the Celtics nipped the Heat 57-55 to set up the championship game. In the the lone 7-8 game on Monday, the Bulls topped the Celtics 14-8. In the 9-10 league the Celtics defeated the Bulls 18-2, and the Grizzlies knocked off the heat 16-12.

          In the lone 11-12 game on Monday, the Grizzlies cruised past the heat 37-18. (February 8, 2011, Page 2B)

              Herod’s 18 points lift 11-12 Lakers past Bulls

              Aliyah Herod scored 18 points to lead the 11-12 Lakers to a 33-31 win over the Bulls Thursday night in Oxford Park Commission youth basketball. In the other 11-12 games, the Celtics edged the Heat 26-23, while the Suns defeated the Thunder 37-29. In the 13-15 league, the Celtics beat the Heat 37-26, while the Grizzlies defeated Lakers 42-33. In the lone 9-10 game, the Lakers beat the Grizzlies 21-12. (January 14, 2011, Page 8A)

                  Lamarcus Faulkner scored nine points to help lead the 9-10 year-old Lakers to a 19-17 win over the Bulls in Oxford Park Commission youth basketball action.

                    Burts combine for 31 points, lift 13-15 Celtics past Grizz

                    Kemarcus Burt and Shaun Burt combined to score 31 points in the 13-15 Celtics’ 52-46 win over the Grizzlies Thursday night.

                    In the other Oxford Park Commission 13-15 game, the Lakers beat the Heat 44-34. In the 7-8 league, the Grizzlies edged the Celtics 16-14.

                    In the 9-10 league, the Thunder edged the Heat 29-28, while the Celtics beat the Grizzlies 26-11.

                    In the 11-12 league, the Suns beat the Heat 42-26, the Grizzlies edged the Thunder 32-30 in overtime, while the Celtics beat the Bulls 29-22. (December 17, 2010, Page 7A)
