OPC Giants cruise past Rangers

Led by four RBIs from Jonathan Masters, the Gilliland Orthodontics Giants defeated the Ligon Oral Surgery Rangers 17-5 in the 9-year-old league on Monday at FNC Park. In the other 9-year-old game, the Oxford Plastic Surgery Red Sox topped the Hinton & Hinton Cubs 17-12. In the 10-year-old league, the First National Bank Tigers edged the Rainbow Cleaners Rays 8-6, while the Rayner Eye Clinic Braves beat the Tannehill, Carmean & McKenzie PLLC Cubs 15-3. In the 11-12 games, the Old Taylor Antiques Giants edged the Bank of Oxford Yankees 7-6, while the Smith Building Supply Red Sox pounded the Hunter’s Hollow Braves 10-1. In two 13-14 games, the Mississippi Auto Arms Twins and Farese Family Dental Brewers played to a 7-7 tie, while the Braves blanked the Rangers 12-0. (April 26, 2011, Page 7)

    Big inning propels U-10 Tigers to win

    A 10-run second inning was too much for the Rayner Eye Clinic Braves to overcome on Tuesday, as the 10-year-old Oxford Park Commission Bravos lost to the First National Bank Tigers 12-7.

      11-12 OPC Yankees start year off right

      The Bank of Oxford Yankees of the Oxford Park Commission’s 11-12 year-old league got their season off to a quick start on Monday, cruising past the Hunters’ Hollow Braves 13-1.

          Reds finish season with perfect record

          The Bert’s Plumbing Red finished the Oxford Park Commission’s 9-year-old league season with a perfect 12-0 record and become one of four teams to win a championship in 2010.

          The First National Bank Braves finished with an 11-1 record to win the 10-year-old league title this summer, while the Chandler Nissan Cardinals and Hunter’s Hollow Inc. Brewers tied for the 11-12 title with identical 8-4 marks. Winning a title in the 13-14 league were the Sharp Insurance Royals with a 10-2 mark. (July 9, 2010, Page 6A)

            Brewers hold off Rays for win

              Oxford Park Commission youth baseball action produced two winners in the 9-year-old league Monday at FNC Park.                 Barber leads 13-14 Cubs past Royals

                Ty Barber had a big night at the plate and on the mound to help lift the Bancoxford Insurance Services Cubs to an 8-3 win over the Sharp Insurance Royals in the lone 13-14 year-old Oxford Park Commission youth league baseball game Tuesday night at FNC Park.

                In other games from FNC Park, the Bert’s Plumbing Reds edged the Rayner Eye Clinic Phillies 4-3, while the Ligon Oral Surgery Diamondbacks pounded the Rainbow Cleaners Yankees 11-1. In the lone 11-12 game, the Chandler Nissan Cardinals beat the Orioles 5-1. (June 16, 2010, Page 6)

                  Smith leads 13-14 Cubs past Cards

                  Nick Smith fell a single short of the cycle and drove in four runs to help lead the 13-14 year-old Bancoxford Insurance Services Cubs to a 9-3 win over the Rozier Hayes Cardinals in Oxford Park Commission youth baseball action Monday night at FNC Park.

                  In the other youth games, the Larson’s Big Star Red Sox beat the Plein Air Royals 16-3, while the Oxford Orthopedics Sports Medicine Rays topped the Bank of Oxford Dodgers 11-4. (June 15, 2010, Page 6)

                    Nash’s bat leads Braves past Red Sox

                    Bo Nash’s three RBIs and two hits helped pace an offensive attack that led to a 14-3 win for the 10-year-old First National Bank Braves over the Freeland Shull Attorney’s at Law Red Sox Thursday night at FNC Park.

                    In other Oxford Park Commission youth baseball action Thursday, the Hunters Hollow Brewers beat the Chandler Nissan Cardinals 11-4 in the 11-12 league, while the Gilliland Orthodontics Yankees edged the Bank of Oxford Dodgers 7-5. In the 13-14 league, the Twins beat the Royals by forfeit, while Davis Logistics of Oxford Braves doubled up the Sharp Insurance Royals 8-4.
