Film and music festival organizers happy with merge

    Young Buffalo kicks off Oxford Music Festival on Thacker Mountain Radio

    OXFORD TOWN – Young Buffalo, the former-moniker of the solo work of Jim Barrett (pictured here), was born in the summer of 2009. Now, with over two years of gigs and songwriting experience under its belt, Young Buffalo is a highly sought after act in Oxford and across the South. Page 7 in this week’s issue of Oxford Town features a Q&A with Barrett about the band’s upcoming performances – two of them – as the Oxford Music Festival’s headliner tonight (Feb. 9) at the Lyric Theater.       Oxford Music Fest 2012 spotlight continues

      OXFORD TOWN – The photo shown here caught one of Oxford’s favorite musicians, Tate Moore, jamming at a 2011 Thacker Mountain Radio Broadcast  and we’re glad we have it in our archives because Moore takes the spotlight on Page 9 in this week’s issue of Oxford Town as we  conclude our sneak peek at the Oxford Music Festival set to reload Feb. 9. This week’s spotlight includes bands and acts for Feb. 11 and 12 at Proud Larry’s, the Lyric Theater and Malco Studio Cinema.         Oxford Music Festival spotlight continues

        OXFORD TOWN – OT’s breakdown of Oxford Music Festival 2012 rolls on this week (Issue No. 962) as we spotlight the bands and acts set for Friday, Feb. 10, at the Malco Studio Cinema VIP Tent, Lyric Theater’s Electro Stage and Proud Larry’s on the Oxford Square. This week, our spotlight illuminates one of the most diverse music- and movie-oriented nights that Oxford has seen in quite some time. Featured bands include Silas Reed ’N Da Books, Kelley and The G-Men, Break-beat, The Minor Adjustments (pictured here), The Congress, Proud Larry’s headliner Shooting Out The Lights and others.           Oxford Music Festival reloads

          OXFORD TOWN – Oxford Music Festival organizers Daniel Morrow, Tim Burkhead (pictured here), Nathan Robbins and Caroline Hourin recently released the lineup for the 2012 version of one of Oxford’s favorite hometown festivals, Oxford Music Fest. Set to reload Feb. 9 at the Lyric Theater, Proud Larry’s and the Malco Studio Cinema, OMF is teaming up with the Oxford Film Festival to bring us another amazing weekend of music, movies and mayhem featuring tons of local talent. Oxford Town’s coverage begins on Page 7 in this week’s issue and continues until the last note is played on Sunday, Feb. 12, at the Malco Studio Cinema. (January 5, 2012, Page 7, 9)
