OMS boys, LMS girls complete sweep of rivals

It was a different setting, but the song remained the same when the Oxford and Lafayette Middle School basketball teams met for the second time this season Thursday evening. This time, the crosstown rivalry was held inside the Oxford High gym. Much like the last meeting on Nov. 17 at the Lafayette High gym the Oxford boys swept their pair of games over the Commodores starting with a 28-7 win in the seventh-grade game. (December 12, 2014, Page 6)

    OMS boys, LMS girls earn wins against cross-town rivals

    The Crosstown Classic hit the hardwood for the first time this season when Oxford Middle School traveled down Highway 6 to play Lafayette Middle School inside the LHS gym Monday night.  It was all Chargers on the boys’ side of things as Oxford swept the seventh- and eighth-grade games.  In the seventh-grade game, the Chargers (6-0) won decisively over the Commodores, 27-5. The game was never in doubt as Oxford had full command due to a strong defensive effort. The Lafayette Middle School girls swept Oxford in both games. (November 18, 2014, Page 7)

      OMS, Tupelo tie 0-0 for Chargers third straight draw

      The Oxford Middle School seventh-grade football team wrapped up its season in unusual fashion Tuesday night, playing Tupelo to a scoreless tie in Tupelo. The Chargers (4-0-3) tied Tupelo in both meetings this season and finished the year with three straight draws. (October 16, 2014, Page 7A)

        OMS students creating disturbances

        The Oxford-Lafayette Public Library has recently seen its fair share of middle schoolers who walk down to the facility after school and cause disturbances with readers and staff. A police report was filed yesterday morning as the librarian believes some students started a fire on the steps of the library. (October 10, 2014, Page 1)

          OMS Chargers still unbeaten, tie Batesville 6-6

          The Oxford Middle School seventh-grade football team hasn’t won a game in two weeks. It hasn’t lost one either. The Chargers traveled to Batesville on Tuesday and played the Tigers to a 6-6 tie. The result came a week after Oxford finished its home finale against Tupelo with both sides knotted at 14 on the scoreboard. (October 1, 2014, Page 2B)

              OMS remains perfect with 26-6 win over Clarksdale

              The Oxford seventh-grade football team remained unbeaten with a 26-6 victory at Clarksdale on Tuesday. The Chargers (4-0) scored the game’s first 12 points and built a 20-0 in the second half before Clarksdale got its first points. Quarterback John Michael Meagher accounted for three total touchdowns while Sam Bianco ran for another in Oxford’s second victory over Clarksdale this season. (September 17, 2014, Page 7)

                OMS stays perfect with 26-6 win over Batesville

                Oxford’s seventh-grade football team was a little battered and bruised in its game against South Panola, but the Chargers still came away with another win. Oxford topped the Tigers 26-6 on Tuesday at Bobby Holcomb Field. (September 10, 2014, Page 7)

                    Oxford 7th-graders blank Jags in openers

                    The Oxford Middle School seventh-grade football team kicked off its season with a pair of games at DeSoto Central on Monday. With nearly 160 combined players suiting up, the teams split their players up and played two games. Oxford blanked DeSoto Central 28-0 in the “A” game while also taking the “B” game 18-0 over the Jaguars. (August 26, 2014, Page 9)
