    Yappy Hour returns to Parrish’s

      Animal rescue?

      One hundred and two. Yes, 102. That’s the number of animals euthanized between May 26 and 31, according to the the Oxford-Lafayette Humane Society, because of behavior, illness and space.         Lawsuit filed by dog owner against Humane Society

        An Oxford man is suing the Oxford-Lafayette Humane Society for more than $4,000 saying his family was put under duress when his dog went missing and wound up at the animal shelter. (March 18, 2011, Page 2A)

          Humane Society opens it long-awaited facility

                Paws for Art

                The 11th Annual Paws for Art Charity Auction is set for April at The Library Bar and Grill, to benefit the Oxford-Lafayette Humane Society. The Patron Party will begin at 6 p.m. and tickets are $45 per guest or $80 per couple. The Patron Party offers a sneak preview of live and silent auction items, a one hour open bar, and admission to the Auction Party and Live Auction. The Auction Party will begin at 7 p.m. and tickets are $30 per guest or $50 per couple. The evening includes  live and silent auctions, a cocktail buffet catered by several of Oxford’s favorite restaurants, a full bar and live music. The auction features presenting artist Baxter Knowlton and auctioneer Robert Taylor.

                  New animal shelter on the way

                  The city has approved a design builder, Heritage Development, for the new Oxford Animal Shelter. The preliminary design has been drafted, and final design plans will be created within 30 days. Groundbreaking should occur by May 1. (March 18, 2010, Page 1)

                    Puppy mill rescue

                    At the request of the Tunica Humane Society, the Oxford Animal Shelter is now housing 33 dogs left stranded after a fire in Dundee. However, the local animal shelter needs supplies and volunteers to help with the additional animals. (January 13, 2010, Page 2)
