Oxford’s Gillom takes her talents to Itawamba C.C.

An existing relationship and a feel of home has landed Itawamba Community College one of the Oxford Lady Chargers’ team leaders.
OHS center Meisha Gillom will continue her playing career in Fulton playing for ICC women’s basketball head coach Nanci Gray, who has followed Gillom since she was little. (April 11, 2012, Page 9)

    ‘Lady Dores get complete-game win

    Once things got rolling on offense for the Lafayette Lady Commodores on the softball field Tuesday night, they didn’t stop until the game was completely in their favor. LHS defeated the Lady Chargers 11-2 at Oxford thanks to a potent offense, strong pitching from starter Kelsey Kesler and another flawless performance on defense. (March 7, 2012)

        Lady Chargers look to make history

        One win is all that separates the Oxford Lady Chargers from cementing their mark atop the school’s history books. OHS heads into Saturday afternoon’s MHSAA Class 5A state title game with South Jones with a 32-0 record. No other basketball team has finished the season with a perfect mark and a state championship all at the same time.

          Lady Chargers get defensive in win

          JACKSON — Defensive adjustments have been a big key to success for the Oxford Lady Chargers this season on the basketball court. Tuesday afternoon, in the team’s biggest game of the season, it was a defensive adjustment made at halftime that ended up advancing the Lady Chargers to the MHSAA’s Class 5A state championship game on Saturday. (February 29, 2012, Page 6)

                    Different styles produce wins for OHS

                    Both Oxford High basketball squads secured a spot in the MHSAA Class 5A Playoffs next week and a spot in the Division 2-5A championship games with wins over Saltillo at the OHS gym Tuesday night.
                    The similarities to the two teams’ victories stop there though, as the Lady Chargers cruised to an 83-35 win and the Chargers had to fight off a late run by the Tigers to win 62-55. (February 8, 2012, Page 6)
