Chargers defeat Madison-Ridgeland Academy

A fast start and a balanced scoring ledger helped lead the Oxford Chargers to a 73-52 win over Madison-Ridgeland Academy Saturday in the OHS gym. Justin Fondren led the Chargers with 15 points, Romeo Johnson had 13 points and Luke Gibbs chipped in 10 points.  (more…) (November 14, 2011, Page 3B)

    Oxford sweeps Okolona

    Playing in a tournament hosted at Tupelo Monday, the Oxford boys and girls basketball teams swept Okolona. The Lady Chargers improved to 2-0 with a 95-10 win. Erika Sisk led the Lady Chargers with 20 points, while Alexus Malone scored 15 and Kristen Dickerson scored 11. (more…) (November 8, 2011, Page 10)

      OMS takes two from Coldwater

        Chargers, Lady Chargers top Clarksdale in opener

          Oxford earns sweep of Myrtle

          Oxford’s middle school basketball season got off to a good start for the girls and boys swept Myrtle Tuesday night. The seventh-grade Chargers defeated Myrtle 28-11, while the eighth-graders won 37-17. Oxford’s seventh-grade Chargers won 26-7, while the eighth-grade Chargers won 25-11.             Sisk helps North win All-Star game

            Oxford rising senior Erika Sisk helped lead the North to an 86-82 win in the 47th annual Mississippi High School Girls All-Star game held Saturday at Mississippi College’s Wood Coliseum.

            Sisk finished third on the team with 12 points during the win.

            Coldwater’s Jerontay Clemons led the North with 19 points and 14 rebounds in the win, while Ole Miss verbal commitment, Okolona’s Quinndella Ford, had 12 points for the North. (July 11, 2011, Page 6)

              Sisk headed to All-Star game

              Oxford High rising senior Erika Sisk will play in the 2011 Mississippi Sports Medicine All-Star basketball game on Saturday. Sisk is one of only 24 players from the state to be chosen for the game at Mississippi College.

              Sisk is currently taking part in the Fila Top Ten Camp in Suwannee, Ga., as a member of the AAU Memphis Elite. (July 6, 2011, Page 9)

                OMS hoops ends successful summer

                The Oxford Middle School hoops squads had a successful summer. The seventh-graders went 2-0 in yesterday’s Oxford Shootout tournament against North Delta and Kirk Academy to finish the summer with an 8-2 record, while the eighth-grade squad also went 2-0 against the same opponents to post a 16-1 record for the summer. (June 29, 2011, Page 7)

                  Oxford 8th graders go 2-1 in tourney

                  The Oxford Middle School eighth-grade boys team went 2-1 in a tournament held at Hickory Flat on Thursday. The Chargers beat Tupelo 37-31 and Starkville 47-35 and lost 35-32 to Corinth. Oxford’s entire middle school roster will return to action for the final time on Tuesday with a home game at the middle school. (June 24, 2011, Page 6A)

                    OMS hoops hosting tournament

                    The Oxford Middle School boys basketball team is hosting a one-day tournament today and tonight at the Oxford High School gym. The tournament gets underway at 1 p.m. in the gym.

                    The Chargers will be playing several teams during the day, including a team from St. Louis, Loyd Star out of Brookhaven and team from Alabama. Admission for fans to the tournament is free. (June 16, 2011, Page 3B)
