A 15-0 run to start the game and much better passing as a team led the Oxford Chargers to a 61-46 win over Charleston in the OHS gym Tuesday night.
Oxford coach Drew Tyler liked the way his team played more unselfishly in the win. Justin Hill, who led the Chargers with 11 points, was one of the players Tyler singled out for his leadership and effort. He also thought David Dennis played his best game of the season. Dennis finished with eight points and was one of 11 players to score in the contest that Oxford led 23-10 at the end of the first quarter and 37-24 at the half. (December 5, 2012, Page 6)
Oxford rebounded from its loss to Tupelo Tuesday night in the OHS gym with a convincing 68-45 win over Charleston. Keyed by a decisive run in the first half, the Lady Chargers (6-2 overall) showed balance on offense and defense in the victory over the Lady Tigers.
OHS coach Shayne Linzy said it was good to see his team overcome an early seven-point deficit and then put the loss to Tupelo, which ended a five-game winning streak, behind them. (December 5, 2012, Page 6)
The Oxford seventh-grade boys basketball team remained perfect on the year with a 27-25 win over Coldwater. The eighth-graders fell 29-27 in the nightcap between the two schools. Jaquan Webb and Hogan Linzy each scored 10 points in the seventh-grade win that improved the Chargers to 6-0. (more…) (December 5, 2012, Page 7)
