Chargers advance to North Half Championship

WEST POINT — It was a tall test, but Oxford passed it with flying colors as the Chargers went to West Point and defeated the Green Wave for the second time this season Friday night. The 42-14 win advanced Oxford (12-1) into the Class 5A North Half title game against Pearl, a 27-14 winner over New Hope. (November 23, 2014, Page 5B)

          OHS romps to win in Lady Charger Invitational

          Things could not have gone better for the host team in the second annual Lady Charger Invitational as Oxford won its opening game of the tournament against Kipp Academy (Tenn.) 84-3 on Thursday night at the new Oxford High gym. The Lafayette Lady Commodores dropped another game in a 51-33 loss to Velma Jackson. (November 21, 2014, Page 6A)

            Chargers school Hilltoppers 85-59

            The day started with Shelby McEwen skying for a putback dunk. It ended with an easy victory for Oxford. In the first school day game in coach Drew Tyler’s 18-year tenure, the Chargers overwhelmed Houston with their athleticism and a bevy of outside shooting to cruise to an 85-59 victory Thursday afternoon at the Oxford High gym. (November 21, 2014, Page 7A)

              Chargers get playoff rematch against West Point

              There will be a sense of deja vu for the Oxford High football team Friday. If it feels like the Chargers have been in West Point playing the Green Wave before this season, it’s because they have. This time, the stakes are a bit higher in their second round matchup of the MHSAA Class 5A playoffs as the winner advances to the North Half title game next week. (November 20, 2014, Page 6A)

                Chargers’ Steward signs with Alabama A&M

                When the Oxford High softball team begins its season in the spring, Ciara Steward will have one less thing to focus on when she takes the mound.  The senior pitcher signed her National Letter of Intent to play college ball at Alabama A&M on Tuesday afternoon at the OHS library. (November 19, 2014, Page 1B, 3B)

                  OHS paper sets standard for others

                  It was exciting to see the Oxford High School student newspaper, The Charger, earn the prestigious Pacemaker Award for journalistic excellence.                     OHS Chargers score early, often in 62-14 playoff win over Ridgeland
