Chargers kick off with defending MAIS champs

No one can ever accuse OHS coach Johnny Hill and the Chargers of taking it easy in pre-region games. This season, Oxford opens with defending MAIS champ Jackson Prep and follows with MHSAA Class 5A champion Starkville, a very athletic Cleveland East Side team and Class 4A power and crosstown rival Lafayette. This week, all of the attention turns to getting better against a deep and talented Prep team in a public school-private school matchup at Bobby Holcomb Field. (August 22, 2013, Page 6)

    Chargers stay unbeaten

    BLOG: The fifth-ranked Oxford Chargers were flagged for 15 penalties totaling 111 yards and the defense gave up its first touchdown in 10 quarters, but that was about all that went wrong for OHS as it whipped region foe Saltillo 37-7 Friday in front of a homecoming crowd at Bobby Holcomb Field.
