    Oxford golfers start season at New Albany

    Oxford’s golf season got underway at New Albany Tuesday. Junior Turner Arnold tied with teammate Peyton Dunlap for the medalist award at the first meet with a round of 37. Sophomore Ethan Holmes followed with a 42, senior John Graeber shot a 43, sophomore Carlton Roberson shot a 44, sophomore Ben Hubbard finished with a 45, junior Ward Toler shot a 46, senior Taylor Harris shot a 47, Bo Ryals, a seventh-grader, shot a 49, while sophomore Taylor Daniels rounded out the scores with a 52. (March 1, 2012, Page 7)

      OHS golf team finishes sixth

      The Chargers were sixth out of 12 teams that competed in last week’s MHSAA Class 5A state golf tournament held at the Laurel Country Club. The Chargers shot a 711 in the two-day tournament.         Oxford’s Turner Arnold leads Chargers

        Oxford sophomore Turner Arnold helped lead the Oxford Chargers in the MHSAA’s Class 5A state golf tournament held at the Laurel Country Club on Tuesday and Wednesday. Arnold shot a 77 on Tuesday and a 79 on Wednesday to finish with a 156 and fourth-place finish overall.               OHS hosts successful invitational meet

              A windy day and wet course only slightly hindered the Oxford girls and boys golf teams from showing progress as a team during the annual Oxford Invitational held on Tuesday at the Country Club of Oxford.

              Weather conditions weren’t the most ideal from a wind standpoint for golfers, but on a course that is considered the toughest test of the season, the wind only slightly raised scores that are usually higher than normal for all teams involved. (April 6, 2011, Page 6)

                Charger golfers grind it out to make state

                A preseason goal of the Oxford boys golf team was obtained Tuesday at the Country Club of Oxford. The Chargers shot a 354 as a team in the District 2-5A Tournament, advancing to the Class 5A state tournament next month in Tupelo.

                Saltillo won the match with a 339, while New Hope was second with a 347. Hernando just missed making it to Tupelo with a 358, while Lake Cormorant and West Point rounded out the team scores with a 466 and 454 respectively. (April 21, 2010, Page 9)
