Linzy’s move to Oxford pays dividends

Oxford girls basketball coach Shayne Linzy remembers the phone call he got from athletics director Johnny Hill in June 2009 informing him he had been selected to take over the Lady Chargers after former coach Shane Stone left for Potts Camp. It was a moment that Linzy would never forget because of what it meant to him personally and what it meant for his coaching career. (June 14, 2012, Page 6)

A routine trip to the mailbox Monday night produced some exciting news for Oxford girls basketball coach Shayne Linzy. While Linzy didn’t become an instant millionaire through a sweepstakes contest, he did receive a prize nonetheless.

Linzy’s Lady Chargers have won several individual awards this year due to a perfect 33-0 season that earned the school its first MHSAA Class 5A state title in the sport. (more…) (April 24, 2012, Page 8)

Lady Chargers ‘all about team ball’ this year

Head coach Shayne Linzy doesn’t look at his Oxford Lady Chargers’ roster and see just five starters with a handful of role players.

Linzy, in his second year at Oxford since coming over from Water Valley, said he’s excited about how his roster has shaped up since the summer.

With Linzy’s high-tempo offense, in combination with a deep roster, don’t be surprised to see Oxford essentially using hockey-like line changes this season.

That’s a luxury Linzy loves about his squad. (November 3, 2010, Page 6)
