Oxford’s success on defense this season can be attributed to the play of many standout players. Against Lake Cormorant last Friday specifically, senior Jarquis Adams recorded nine tackles, three tackles for a loss and one sack in the Chargers’ 26-0 win. Adams’ play earned him this week’s Player of the Week honors, his first this season. (October 9, 2012, Page 6)
There was a point midway through the first half of Friday night’s Region 1-5A game between No. 9 Oxford and Lake Cormorant at Bobby Holcomb Field where LCHS head coach Nick Nester threw up his hands in confusion, disgust or both. When an opposing team holds another to negative yards on offense in a half, it can make even the most even tempered of coaches feel desperate and frustrated all at the same time.
