Some alarmed by fire code inspections

While few violations were found on the Square, city fire inspectors were double checking occupancy levels at many restaurants and bars on the Square on Thursday night. These inspections are expected to continue through the weekend. There are questions from business owners, however, about the frequency and randomness of the checks. (October 14, 2011, Page 1A)

    Firefighters to climb in memory of fallen

    Seven Oxford Fire Department firefighters will be attending the Kansas City 9/11 Memorial Climb this weekend in remembrance of the 343 firefighters who lost their lives when the Twin Towers in NYC burned and collapsed after the terrorist attacks.

              OFD raises money for tornado victims

              The Oxford Fire Department raised $6,700 Thursday night at a benefit street dance and concert held in front of City Hall. The proceeds are going to purchase supplies needed by last week’s storm victims in Lafayette County. (May 6, 2011, Page 1A)

                January fire that claimed two lives ruled accidental

                The fire that claimed the lives of two Oxford women in January has been ruled accidental, according to Oxford Fire Chief Mike Hill. The fire appeared to have been caused by a gas heater in the home. (April 12, 2011, Page 1A)
