Area teams open 2013 seasons tonight

Tough pre-regional schedules are the rule rather than the exception for Oxford, Lafayette and Water Valley high schools as they open their 2013 slates tonight. Oxford hosts defending MAIS champion Jackson Prep, Class 4A Lafayette travels to Class 6A Tupelo and Class 3A Water Valley plays at defending Region 2-4A champion New Albany. Improved pitch key for Sullivan

Charley Sullivan looks like a different pitcher compared to the last time he pitched in Oxford as a Charger. Heck, the former EAGLE All-Area teamer has changed just from last year. (April 12, 2013, Page 6A)

Different styles produce wins for OHS

Both Oxford High basketball squads secured a spot in the MHSAA Class 5A Playoffs next week and a spot in the Division 2-5A championship games with wins over Saltillo at the OHS gym Tuesday night.
The similarities to the two teams’ victories stop there though, as the Lady Chargers cruised to an 83-35 win and the Chargers had to fight off a late run by the Tigers to win 62-55. (February 8, 2012, Page 6)
