Oxford D shows its mettle in shutout

Piling up 363 total yards and getting a monster game from sophomore running back Kenzie Phillips (208 yards and three touchdowns), Oxford’s offense continued doing what it’s been doing all year in the Chargers’ 30-0 win over rival Lafayette in the annual Crosstown Classic Friday night.

With Phillips and senior Jarius Barnes making up a formidable rushing attack, a rising sophomore at quarterback in Jack Abraham and one of the best receivers around in Ole Miss commit D.K. Metcalf, the Chargers’ offense has put up at least 30 points in every game it’s played so far.

But just in case anybody forgot about the Oxford defense, the unit proved it’s alive and well with its most dominant performance to this point against the Commodores. (September 16, 2013, Page 4B)
