Lady ‘Dores complete season sweep of Oxford

The offense had been lacking for the Lafayette High softball team in recent games. On Friday night, the Commodores found it as they completed the season sweep of crosstown rival Oxford in a 19-0 victory in 3.5 innings at the LHS softball field. (April 12, 2015, Page 2B)

    LHS routs crosstown rival Chargers, 16-4

    The Oxford and Lafayette High softball teams met for the second time this season and the outcome was very similar to the first meeting.  Poor defense by the Chargers paired with the hot bats of the Commodores led to a 16-4 win for Lafayette in five innings at the Oxford High softball field Thursday evening. (March 27, 2015, Page 2B)

      Lafayette gets best of OHS in Oxford Classic

      To kickoff the beginning of softball season Oxford and Lafayette played each other in the final game of the Oxford Softball Classic Saturday afternoon. Lafayette came away the victors with a 10-2 win in three innings at the Oxford softball field. (March 1, 2015, Page 4B)

        SOFTBALL PREVIEW: Chargers approach season with new faces, attitude

        Oxford High’s 2014 softball season was not one with a lot of highlights. The Chargers finished third in the Division 2-5A standings and got swept by eventual state champion Neshoba Central in the second round of the Class 5A Playoffs. This season brings a new campaign and a fresh outlook for the Chargers, who felt they didn’t have the right approach at times least year. (February 26, 2015, Page 6A)

          Chargers’ Steward signs with Alabama A&M

          When the Oxford High softball team begins its season in the spring, Ciara Steward will have one less thing to focus on when she takes the mound.  The senior pitcher signed her National Letter of Intent to play college ball at Alabama A&M on Tuesday afternoon at the OHS library. (November 19, 2014, Page 1B, 3B)

            Three OHS athletes tabbed for Hasselman Award

            Oxford High School handed out their annual Hasselman award at the end of the school year and for the second time in the award’s history there was a tie. Ethan Holmes and Kendall Jenkins finished in a deadlock after votes were tallied in the boys category. There was not as much drama when votes were counted for the girls award as Brandy Batoon won it. (July 3, 2014, Page 6)

              Oxford’s Steward commits to NWCC

              Oxford pitcher Ciara Steward still has one year of high school left, but she secured her future earlier this week with a verbal commitment to Northwest Mississippi Community College. (May 28, 2014, Page 7)
