Oxford’s Hankins signs to run XC, track at Mississippi College

Emily Hankins was torn. The Oxford High senior’s performances on the trail and the track over the years netted her scholarship offers from Mississippi College and Delta State. Hankins went back and forth weighing the pros and cons of each school before ultimately signing with Mississippi College on Thursday in the high school library. (November 14, 2014, Page 6A)

    Future looks bright for Oxford High cross-country teams

    The Oxford Chargers successfully defended their Class 5A state cross-country championship Saturday in Clinton and the Lady Chargers came within a point of making it a clean sweep for OHS. A year from now, Oxford High coach Chris Patton said, his teams could well have a shot at completing that sweep. (November 10, 2014, Page 8)

      OHS boys win third 5A state title in four years

      CLINTON — The Oxford High boys opened the cross-country season ranked No. 1 in Mississippi based on returning runners and their best times from last year’s Class 5A state championship campaign. The Chargers finished the year where they began as they topped rivals Pearl and Saltillo to successfully defend their state title Saturday morning at Choctaw Trails. (November 9, 2014, Page 4B)

        Oxford boys out to defend 5A XC title

        The Oxford High boys and girls cross-country teams are in prime position to sweep the MHSAA Class 5A state titles this weekend in Clinton. It’s where they thought they would be all season. The boys team will look to defend its state championship from a year ago while the girls are hoping to improve upon a third-place finish. (November 7, 2014, Page 6A)

              OHS boys win Silver Divison in Jesse Owens cross-country meet

              DANVILLE, Ala. — The Oxford Charger cross-country team got personal-best performances from two of its top five finishers Saturday in winning the Silver 5A-7A Division of the prestigious Jesse Owens Classic. It was Oxford’s first team championship in what’s one of the largest high school cross-country meets in the Southeast. (October 5, 2014, Page 6B)

                  Three OHS athletes tabbed for Hasselman Award

                  Oxford High School handed out their annual Hasselman award at the end of the school year and for the second time in the award’s history there was a tie. Ethan Holmes and Kendall Jenkins finished in a deadlock after votes were tallied in the boys category. There was not as much drama when votes were counted for the girls award as Brandy Batoon won it. (July 3, 2014, Page 6)
