Three Oxford police officers were honored recently for keeping the roads safer by getting drunk drivers off of them.
The awards were presented April 27 by the Mississippi Department of Public Safety and the state Office of Highway Safety to DUI officers David Sabin, Hildon Sessums and Chris Ray. (May 10, 2011, Page 2)
While getting drunk in front of a room full of police officers wouldn’t normally be a good idea, five volunteers did just that Wednesday during a Standardized Field Sobriety Test school held at the Oxford Police Department. (April 7, 2011, Page 2)
During what has traditionally been one of the year’s busiest nights for local DUI enforcement, the Oxford Police Department reported few arrests associated with driving while under the influence.
Between Dec. 16 and Monday, OPD officers made 15 arrests on DUI charges, however, just three of these DUI arrests were made on New Year’s Eve, said Cpl. Hildon Sessums with the OPD DUI Enforcement Unit.
The nasty weather might have helped keep people off the streets on New Year’s Eve, reducing the number of DUIs in Oxford. (January 4, 2011, Page 1)
