    Ole Miss tennis teams ranked in preseason

    The Ole Miss men’s tennis team is ranked 13th and the women’s team is ranked 18th in the ITA preseason rankings. Several individual players are ranked in singles and doubles for the teams, which open their season later this month. (January 4, 2013, Page 8A)

      Scholtz named SEC Freshman of Year

      BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Ole Miss men’s tennis player Nik Scholtz was named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Year, while Marcel Thiemann and Jonas Lutjen joined him on the All-SEC team. The announcements were made this morning.

      Scholtz becomes the first player in the history of the program to earn SEC Freshman of the Year honors. The Caledon, South Africa native, also named to the All-SEC first team and the All-Freshman Team, posted a 7-4 record in the SEC at No. 1 singles and teamed with Lutjen for a 9-2 league record in doubles.  Scholtz is presently ranked No. 13 in the nation in singles and doubles is the second highest ranked freshman in the country.  He was recently named to the SEC All-Tournament Team after helping lead the Rebels to the semifinals for the 15th time. (April 26, 2012, Page 6)

        OM women netters add blue chipper

        The Ole Miss women’s tennis team is riding high Tuesday with the addition of blue chip recruit Julia Jones. Jones signed an Southeastern Conference Award letter to become a member of the team. Jones, who hails from Seminole, Fla., rose to as high as No. 6 in the nation by TennisRecruiting.net and No. 1 in Florida.

        “The signing of Julia Jones increases the level of this recruiting class,” Ole Miss coach Mark Beyers said.   “This class is going to make an immediate impact, and Julia is among those. She was a highly recruited student-athlete.” (more…) (August 23, 2011, Page 9)

          Lady Rebels fall to Vanderbilt

            OM women to host MTSU on Friday

            In their final tune-up before the start of Southeastern Conference play, the No. 24 Ole Miss women’s tennis team will host Middle Tennessee State Friday at 2 p.m. at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.

            The Rebels come into the match at 4-2 overall.   In their first outdoor match of the season last Saturday, the Rebels shut out Troy 7-0 to improve to 18-3 at home dating back to the 2009 season. (February 24, 2011, Page 7)

              Women netters rally to top SMU

              Freshman Caroline Rohde-Moe came up big in just her second dual match for the Lady Rebels, clinching a come-from-behind 4-3 victory for the No. 17 Ole Miss women’s tennis team against No. 27 SMU in the first round of the ITA Kick-Off Weekend on Sunday at the Goodfriend Tennis Center.                 Ole Miss netters go 24-3 in opening weekend invitational

                The No. 18 Ole Miss women’s tennis team concluded a successful opening weekend to the 2011 season Sunday by winning five of six singles matches against Missouri at the Memphis Winter Invitational.  For the weekend, the Rebels went 24-3 in singles and doubles at the Racquet Club of Memphis.
