Ole Miss Rebels

Offense, scoring focus of latest OM practice

The fourth day of preseason camp saw Ole Miss concentrate on their red zone offense. The individual and 7-on-7 drills all focused on converting inside the 20-yard line. Head coach Hugh Freeze noted the offense started off slow but finished strong at the end of practice. (August 7, 2013, Page 10)

Offensive struggles lead to Rebels’ exit

RALEIGH, N. C. — Andrew Mistone hit a hard shot up the middle.
Off the bat it looked like the senior third baseman had prolonged the Rebels’ season for at least one more at-bat, but William & Mary shortstop Ryan Williams snagged the ball, spun and delivered a strike to first for the final out Sunday. (June 3, 2013, Page 8)

Wahl puts himself in elite company

RALEIGH, N.C. — It makes since that because there was so much chatter about a potential showdown of elite aces in the Raleigh Regional that it probably wouldn’t actually come to fruition. (June 3, 2013, Page 8)

Rodon, Wahl could face each other Saturday

RALEIGH, N.C. — Upon hopping off of the team bus and walking into the red confines of Doak Field at Dail Park, Rebel ace Bobby Wahl dropped his equipment bag off, started to stretch and then caught the attention of two familiar faces: N.C. State shortstop Trea Turner and ace Carlos Rodon. (May 31, 2013, Page 6A)

William & Mary not just happy to be in Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C. — William & Mary isn’t just happy to be in the NCAA Baseball Tournament.
The Tribe’s players weren’t walking around Doak Field at Dail Park Thursday, taking pictures as if they were tourists at Disney Land. (May 31, 2013, Page 6A)

Regional provides Bousfield chance to hit reset

RALEIGH, N.C. — The Raleigh (N.C.) Regional will mean different things for different players. For guys like Mike Mayers, Bobby Wahl, Stuart Turner and others it may mean the end of their careers if second-seed Ole Miss doesn’t play well. (May 31, 2013, Page 7A)

Rebels need Mathis, Mistone to keep hitting

It’s safe to say this season hasn’t gone as expected for Ole Miss’ Tanner Mathis. Not even in the same ballpark.
A career .345 hitter, the spirited left fielder was hitting closer to .200 than .300 for much of this season. (May 30, 2013, Page 8)

                  Raleigh Regional should be interesting

When the college baseball field of 64 teams was announced on Monday it was hard not to go back over the pairings and various regionals and try to decide who had it toughest, whose should be a cake walk and which is the “Regional of Death.” (May 30, 2013, Page 8)

Bianco decides on Mayers as Game 1 starter

                    That didn’t take too long.
Just over 24 hours after learning the Ole Miss Rebels would face William & Mary to open the Raleigh (N.C.) Regional, coach Mike Bianco announced that Mike Mayers will take the mound against the Tribe. (May 29, 2013, Page 8)
