Final plan for new hoops arena nearing

Construction and the improvement to existing athletic facilities were two things Ole Miss Athletics Director Pete Boone took time out to discuss during a nearly hour long meeting with the media on Thursday. A finalized plan on building a new basketball arena to replace C.M. “Tad” Smith Coliseum is expected to be released later in the summer, Boone said, and the goal is to have the Rebels and Lady Rebels playing in the new building by 2015. (June 17, 2011, Page 7A)

        Texas transfer giving Lady Rebels a big boost

        Brittany Barnhill has been a jack of all trades for the Ole Miss softball team this season. Since transferring from the University of Texas prior to the 2010 season, Barnhill has been a big reason the Rebels have an 18-13 overall record. (March 25, 2010, Page 7)

          OM takes first series from MSU since ’07

          It didn’t end like they would have liked it to, but this weekend the Ole Miss softball team earned its first series win over Mississippi State since 2007. Although the Lady Rebels lost Sunday’s game 11-5, they took both games of Saturday’s doubleheader, 6-4 and 9-2. (March 22, 2010, Page 9)

            OM women to travel to Samford for first round of WNIT

              Lady Rebels fall in SEC Tournament

              A day after Ole Miss outlasted South Carolina in the first round of the Southeastern Conference women’s tournament, the Lady Rebels were eliminated by No. 1 seed Tennessee 76-51 at the Gwinett Center in Duluth, Ga., Friday afternoon.

                Ole Miss rebounds to hold off Bears

                OLE MISS SOFTBALL — After gaining a large 6-1 lead, the Ole Miss softball team ended up having to scrap for its 7-6 victory over the Central Arkansas Bears at the Ole Miss Softball Complex on Wednesday. Transfer Brittany Barnhill tallied the game-winning double, scoring Lauren Grill from second in the bottom of the sixth. (March 4, 2010, Page 6)

                    Hines an inspiration for OM softball team

                    Haley Hines, a patient at St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, threw out the ceremonial first pitch Friday at the start of the Red & Blue Classic. Hines was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a type of cancerous brain tumor, in Sept. 2009 and moved to Memphis with her family from Florida to receive treatment. (March 1, 2010, Page 10)
