The Lafayette County Law Enforcement Officers Association held its annual banquet Thursday night at the National Guard Armory where they celebrated and honored the Office of the Year awarded to Deputy Dave Cullison, Support Personnel of the Year Robert Sockwell and gave a special Medal of Valor award to five University Police officers, Lt. Darren Roberts, with the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department received the Officer of the Year award Tuesday night during the annual Lafayette County Law Enforcement Officers Association’s awards dinner. University Police Department’s Jane Tutor took home the award for Officer of the Year last night during the annual awards banquet of the Lafayette County Law Enforcement Officer’s Association. Tutor, captain of investigations, has been with UPD since 2003. Winning the award for Support Personnel of the Year was Angie Hughes, a 911 dispatcher with the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department for 13 years.
Winning the Oxford Police Department’s Officer of the Year is not only an honor for Lt. Chris Robertson, he believes it’s one of the highest honors a police officer can hope to gain.
Robertson was given the award last week during OPD’s annual Christmas party and awards banquet. He was one of several awards given out that evening. (December 21, 2010, Page 1)
