Author Stephanie McAfee to sign at Off Square Books

    Cops, book store nab thief

    A book thief, who was caught in the act last year at Off Square Books, was sentenced to five years of probation last month during the January court term of the Lafayette County Circuit Court.       Oxonian Julie Cantrell publishes first novel

      OXFORD TOWN – Oxford author Julie Cantrell (shown here with her dog, Ellie) just completed her first novel titled “Into the Free.” The inspiring new book is set for a release date of Feb. 1 and Off Square Books is celebrating by hosting a launch party on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 5 p.m. The party will feature a conversation with Cantrell, champagne and, well, chocolate. The photographs of Cantrell scattered throughout this issue (including the cover) were taken by Oxord Town music writer/phoptographer Kate Anthony who had instructions to take shots of Cantrell “that screamed Oxford.” Don’t miss the genesis of a great writing career next Tuesday at Off Square Books.           Thacker Mountain Radio hits the road … sort of
