Off square books hosted the Where’s Waldo finale party Thursday as they wrapped up a month long of searching for 26 Waldo’s placed around businesses on the square. The grand prize winner was Ameila Parker. (August 1, 2014, Page 1A)

    Elusive character brings smiles to small readers

    More than 185 children were busily searching Oxford for the elusive Waldo during a month-long Find Waldo in Oxford event sponsored by Square Books. The event culminated this week with several raffle drawings and a birthday cake to celebrate Waldo’s 25th birthday. (August 3, 2012, Page 1B, 2B)

      Author Richard Ford set for visit to Off Square Books

      OXFORD TOWN – On June 11 at 5 p.m., UM professor and Pulitzer Prize winning author Richard Ford will visit Off Square Books to sign copies of his latest work, “Canada.” Page 5 in Oxford Town No. 982 has a review of Ford’s “Canada” by new Oxford Town writer and intern Kayleigh Skinner. (June 7, 2012, Page 5)

        John T. Edge set for Off Square Books Tuesday, May 8

        OXFORD TOWN – Author/chef John T.             Thacker Mountain Radio welcomes a rock ‘n’ roll legend

            OXFORD TOWN – Thacker Mountain Radio cranks back up and broadcasts from Off Square Books this week featuring rock ‘n’ roll legend Bobby Keys (pictured here) and visiting author Michael Thomas. Musical guests include the Chimney Choir from Denver joining in the jam. All the above will entertain with house band Duff Dorrough and The Yalobushwackers and host Jim Dees.               Denver’s Chimney Choir blazes into town for multiple events

              OXFORD TOWN – Former Oxonian and multi-instrumentalist Kevin Larkin left Taylor approximately two years ago but he’s back this weekend with a brand new project in tow. Larkin’s lastest effort is a three-piece “world music” outfit, Chimney Choir, and they’ll be playing all over the L-O-U community and Tupelo this weekend and next week.                 TMR gets ‘Witchy’ tonight at Off Square Books on March 10

                OXFORD TOWN – Thacker Mountain Radio returns to Off Square Books this evening at 6 with tales of the supernatural. Thacker’s visiting author will be Jonathan Odell (“The Healing”) who will conjure a witchy woman from the Civil War.                   Artist/musician Jon Langford visits TMR, Soutshide Gallery and Two Stick Sushi Bar

                  OXFORD TOWN – Artist, musician and “Champion of misfits” Jon Langford is set for performances and art exhibitions all over Oxford this weekend, beginning with Thacker Mountain Radio tonight (Thursday, March 1) at Off Square Books. Pages 7 and 12 in Oxford Town No. 968 has tons of  information about the native Welshman who now calls Chicago home.                     Kinky Friedman set for TMR and Proud Larry’s tonight (Thursday, Feb. 23)

                    OXFORD TOWN – In the 2006 race for Texas governor, Kinky Friedman, best-selling mystery novelist and musician, came in a close fourth on the ticket. Luckily for us (these days), Kinky is free. Free to tour and sip tequila and write books (a new mystery with Billy Bob Thornton) and record songs, including an upcoming album with Willie Nelson. Friedman is in town today (Thursday, Feb. 23) and is scheduled to appear on Thacker Mountain Radio at 6 p.m. at Off Square Books and later tonight at Proud Larry’s.
