The Lady Commodores left little doubt on their end who deserves to be in the upcoming MHSAA Class 4A playoffs.
Lafayette’s 6-1 win over North Pontotoc Thursday not only gave the Commodores their second straight win in tennis, it also gave them a 1-0 start in Division 2-4A play. ECRU — The Lafayette girls basketball team’s gameplan against North Pontotoc’s 6-foot-3 center Chelsea Mabry worked well in Friday’s District 2-4A Division Tournament championship game at North Pontotoc gym.
Amongst double teams most of the game, Mabry managed to put up 11 points on the night, but it was her teammates who ultimately secured a 56-49 win for the No. 1 seed Lady Vikings over the No. 3 seed Lady ‘Dores.

In years past the Commodores have had the Region 2-4A title on lockdown heading into the regular season finale. Thursday, Lafayette (8-2 overall, 3-1 Region 2-4A) must win to secure home field for the first round of the Class 4A playoffs. (October 24, 2012, Page 6)
While the LHS girls cruised to a 6-0 victory on a gusty Saturday afternoon at William L. Buford Stadium, the Commodores were defeated 6-2.
