North Mississippi Hill Country Picnic

A Hill Country Picnic Retrospective

OXFORD TOWN  – The tunes and weather were smoking hot — but the libations and patrons were totally cool last weekend at the Hill Coutry Picnic in Marshall County. Oxford Town contributing photographer Mike Stanton braved both to help, once again, archive one of Mississippi’s favorite festivals. Turn to Page 7 in Oxford Town No. 987  to check out some of Stanton’s great shots from Saturday night’s picnic jam (Picnic MC and Oxford Town Columnist Jim Dees pictured here). NMHCP gets bigger and better every year and next year promises to be yet another hoedown blast. We think we speak for everyone when we say “Keep ’em coming” and kudos to picnic organizers for a great weekend.

North Mississippi Hill Country Picnic reloads

OXFORD TOWN – Finally. One of Mississippi’s favorite festivals kicks off tomorrow (June 29) at a brand new venue — Betty Davis BBQ – and the lineup is loaded as usual. T-Model Ford (pictured here) is only one of several legendary musicians and bands set to rock North Mississippi throughout the weekend. Pages 5, 8 and 9 in this week’s issue of Oxford Town (No. 985) gives you a complete heads-up about what to expect this weekend in Marshall County as the blues and temperatures in North Mississippi rise in a big way. (June 28, 2012, Page 5, 8-9)

      A Hill Country Picnic Retrospective

OXFORD TOWN – It wasn’t exactly the “Summer of Love,” but it was close. The 2011 North Mississippi Hill Country Picnic went off without a hitch last weekend and we have the photos and coverage to prove it. Page 9 in this week’s issue of Oxford Town will give you a peek at some of the action at one of the hottest (literally and figuratively) festivals in the state and the manner in which our local musicians anchored it throughout the weekend  — serving up tons of blues, country, rock, gospel and Americana music. Download or pick up an issue and check it out. And, be sure to mark your calendar now for the last week in June, 2012 for the next version of the Hill Country Picnic. (June 30, 2011, Page 9)

The Sixth Annual Hill Country Picnic cranks up this weekend at Foxfire Ranch

OXFORD TOWN –  The wildly popular Hill Country Picnic returns, featuring a venue change and tons of great local and regional talent set to rock the weekend away. It took pages 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 in this issue of Oxford Town to jam in a veritable truckload of photos, schedules and other festival information — so, dig in, get comfortable and start reading. Also, you may want to start packing your gear now so you’ll have the best seat at the hottest Hill Country Blues Festival in the country. Kicking off the festival on Friday at 5 will be one of Oxford’s favorite singer/songwriters, Shannon McNally (pictured). (June 23, 2011, Page 5, 6, 7, 8, 9)
