New Hope Trojans

Lady Trojans defeat Oxford in 5A playoffs

Oxford’s stay in the MHSAA Class 5A softball playoffs came to an end Friday with a 17-1 loss to New Hope. The Lady Chargers’ season ended with a 7-16 overall record, while the Lady Trojans improved to 26-1. Despite losing the series, OHS coach Steve Blackmon thought his team showed improvement during the season and the series with the Lady Trojans, regarded as the top team in the state, gives him an idea of what needs to be accomplished moving forward. (April 29, 2013, Page 4B)

Late shot lifts Trojans past OHS

NEW HOPE — If Friday’s Division 2-5A championship game had been 31 minutes long, instead of 32, the Oxford Chargers would be champions rather than the New Hope Trojans. NEW HOPE — The goals of winning the Division 2-5A Tournament title for the second straight season and earning a home playoff game Tuesday in the Class 5A playoffs didn’t materialize like Oxford Lady Chargers were hoping Friday night. Although OHS battled the New Hope Trojans down to the end and fared much, much better than the first meeting in the NHS gym, the Lady Chargers fell in the title game 64-58.
