Water Valley fends off NAHS
The Water Valley volleyball team got its season off to a good start with a tight win over startup New Albany on Tuesday. The Lady Blue Devils were able to fend off the visiting Lady Bulldogs to the tune of 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-23) win. Next up for Water Valley is an away match against Byhalia on Aug. 23. Oxford girls down New Albany
The Oxford Lady Chargers soccer team earned a 4-0 win over New Albany Tuesday night. Mary Helen Rychlak led the team with two goals scored. Maggie Mitchell added a goal off an assist from Maia Cotelo, while seventh-grader Zoe Scruggs added the final goal. Emily Meadows had three saves in goal for the Lady Chargers, while Megan Murphy also had a save in the split shutout. (November 17, 2010, Page 7)
