Three players in double figures wasn’t enough to lift the Lafayette Commodores past New Albany Tuesday night on the road. The Bulldogs topped the ‘Dores 65-55 to drop them to 1-2 in Division 2-4A play and 8-6 overall. Montreal Nabors led LHS with 17 points, six rebounds and five steals. It took 13 games for the Lafayette High School baseball team to record its first home run of the 2012 season, proving the old adage of good things come to those who wait.
John Murphree broke a 2-2 tie in the fourth inning when he belted an offering from New Albany pitcher Ben Foster over the left field fence for a two-run home run to put the ‘Dores ahead 4-2 in what would turn out to be a 7-2 win over the Division 2-4A rival Bulldogs at W.V.
