      Cold, wet and icy weather expected

      Lafayette County will be under a winter weather advisory starting at noon Friday and running through about 9 p.m. National Weather Service Meteorologist Zach Maye said Lafayette County could see about a quarter-inch of ice accumulating on trees and power lines Friday afternoon. (December 5, 2013, Page 1, 2)

          Area braces for storms

          The National Weather Service issued a severe storm warning for Lafayette County. Strong thunderstorms are expected tonight between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m. that could produce hail, high winds and tornadoes. (January 29, 2013, Page 1, 3)

            More rain expected for the area

              Cold front could bring heavy storms

              A cold front moving into the area tonight is expected to bring thunderstorms that could produce hail, damaging winds and possibly a tornado. It will take temperatures down more than 30 degrees during the day with the high on Saturday and Sunday in the low 80s and lows at night of 55 degrees. (September 7, 2012, Page 2A)

                Heavy rains cause flash floods

                A remnant of Tropical Storm Isaac wreaked havoc Sunday night, dumping 4 to 6 inches of rain in 90 minutes. Several roads and some homes were flooded. (September 4, 2012, Page 1)

                  Isaac to send showers, breezes to Oxford

                  Oxford residents can expect a few showers and breezy conditions over the next two days and remnants from Hurricane Isaac drift into north Mississippi. Local power companies are geared up to handle any power outages that might occur. (August 29, 2012, Page 1, 14)

                    Little relief from blistering heat

                    Temperatures are expected to hit 103 this weekend and could feel more like 105 to 114 with the heat index as humidity levels begin to climb today. Fire officials are asking everyone to be safe and use precautions setting off fireworks in the county or burning until when and if a burn ban is placed into effect for Lafayette County. (June 28, 2012, Page 1, 2)
