Maybelle’s Lovers set for the Sunset Series this Sunday evening

OXFORD TOWN – Maybelle’s Lovers (frontwoman Gina Sexton pictured here by Mike Stanton) is a busy band these days with two scheduled shows this weekend around the L-O-U community. Catch them in the friendly confines of our beloved Grove this Sunday evening (June 17) at 7 for the Summer Sunset Series — and, as a warmup, be sure to catch them at Avent Park this Friday night (June 15) for OPC’s weekly production of Movies in the Park (music also begins at 7 for that family-friendly event). Turn to Page 16 in this week’s issue of Oxford Town (No. 983) for more information and photos of one of Oxford’s favorite American/country/rock bands. (June 14, 2012, Page 16)

Rain could postpone movie night at Avent Park

With a 60 percent chance of rain predicted for most of the day today, the Oxford Park Commission’s first Movie in the Park event might have be put off for another day. OPC officials say they will decide by 3 this afternoon whether  to postpone the event to Saturday. Check the OPC website at www.oxfordparkcommission.com or call 232-2380. (June 4, 2010, Page 3A)
