Go-getters to get help
In hopes to give entrepreneurs a place to go to gain support, knowledge and to do some networking, local business owners are teaming up with the Economic Development Foundation, the Mississippi Technology Alliance and FNC Inc. to form the Lafayette-Oxford-University Alliance. The LOU Alliance will focus on creating mentoring, curriculum, discussions, events, talent matching and funding to help move entrepreneurs from idea to profit. (June 25, 2010, Page 1A)
Company sprouts with seed money
With the help of $100,000 in seed money from the state, a University of Mississippi professor’s dream of launching a new business is about to come to fruition.
Mike Repka, UM chairman and associate professor of pharmaceutrics, was on hand Monday to accept the money from the Mississippi Technology Alliance. The funds will help start Oxford Polymed Corp., a new clinical stage pharmaceutical development company based in Oxford focusing on several drug delivery systems.
