Oxford police have recorded arrests of two residents from outside of Oxford, including one on a charge of sexual battery.

OPD took a report on February 19 about an alleged sexual assault that occurred on the 18th, according to a police report. After an investigation, police served an arrest on Joshua Starks, 25 of Memphis, on February 25 for one count of sexual battery.

Starks was taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center and a Justice Court Judge set his bond at $5,000.

A Corinth man was also brought to the Lafayette County Detention Center after Tupelo Police arrested him for allegedly shoplifting from an Oxford store.

Oxford Police took a shoplifting report on January 31 from Wal-Mart about a man who allegedly tried to leave the story with $1,000 worth of items without paying. Loss Prevention Employees confronted the suspect, but the suspect fled in their vehicle.

After Wal-Mart Loss Prevention signed an affidavit, a warrant was issued for felony shoplifting and Tupelo Police arrested Jacob Chatham, 28 of Corinth, on February 21 for the felony shoplifting charge.

Chatham was transported to Lafayette County Detention Center, and a Justice Court Judge set his bond at $2,500.
