OHS’ Williams excited to run at LSU

A desire to be the best has always been the driving force behind sprinter Horatio Williams when he got on the track. Williams blazed a trail to state champion and All-American status while at Oxford High School before he became a major contributor to a Hinds Community College track program that finished 11th in the nation this past spring. Now, with a two-year degree recently accomplished, Williams is ready to embark upon the next stage of his career at Southeastern Conference power LSU.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Williams signed with the Tigers in February, but because just he completed his last summer class at Hinds, Williams’ arrival in Baton Rouge, La., had to wait until this month. With his junior college schooling now complete, Williams is looking forward to burning up the track in the SEC as a 100- and 200-meter sprinter and a member of the 4×100 and possibly 4×400 relay teams. (August 6, 2010, Page 7A)
