LHS teams garner spots in 4A playoffs

Lafayette’s boys basketball program continued to show improvement and a turnaround under second-year coach Nacoma James on Tuesday night in the elimination round of the Division 2-4A Tournament. Playing the host North Pontotoc Vikings, the Commodores were able to make enough plays, both on offense and defense, late to pull out a 65-63 win and advance to play No. 1 seed Tunica-Rosa Fort on Thursday evening. Tuesday’s win also advanced the ‘Dores to the MHSAA’s Class 4A playoffs for the first time in seven years. (February 13, 2013, Page 7)
