Lafayette’s improbable run through the MHSAA Class 4A baseball playoffs came to a close Friday.

The Lafayette Commodores eliminated one familiar foe only to advance to face another.
After eliminating New Albany in the quarterfinals Monday, the Commodores must now turn right around and begin the best-of-three Class 4A North Half series tonight against Region 2-4A rival Lewisburg. (more…) (May 10, 2012, Page 7)
The Lafayette Lady Commodores may have been eliminated from the Class 4A playoffs last Friday, but that didn’t prevent them from showing heart late in Wednesday’s home game against Lewisburg.
Trailing by four runs, the Lady ‘Dores plated two runs in the last frame to get within striking distance before the Lady Patriots were able to close the game out and earn the 6-4 victory. (April 19, 2012, Page 8)

Exciting doesn’t even begin to describe the girls fastpitch softball game played between Lewisburg and Lafayette at LHS on Thursday night. In a contest that felt more like a heavyweight title fight, it was the Lady Commodores that delivered the final hit that garnered a knockout blow in the bottom of the seventh inning. Lafayette’s John Jeffrey Nelson couldn’t have picked a better time for his first high school walk-off hit than Thursday night.
