Lewisburg’s fast start to Tuesday’s Division 2-4A contest with Lafayette ended up becoming an even bigger factor late. Just as Lafayette’s offense seemed to pick up, three errors in the fifth inning allowed the Lady Patriots to garner three more runs and take an even bigger lead on LHS.

Lafayette earned a home sweep of Division 2-4A foe Lewisburg Friday night. The Lady Commodores ended a four-game losing streak with a 70-25 win over the Lady Patriots. Saturday’s season finale didn’t yield the ultimate result the Lafayette Commodores soccer team was hoping for.

Thanks to an all-around performance from quarterback Brandon Mack and some timely stops on defense, the Commodores defeated the Patriots 28-13 to improve their winning streak in region games to 16. Facing a team that could end up being Lafayette’s toughest test in region play in the opener, Mack was able to lead the Commodores on offense by passing for two touchdowns and rushing for one to ice the game late in the fourth quarter.
