Amy Scribner blends in with her players rather well.
Heading into this season Lafayette volleyball coach Rachel Wenzel was faced with a rather large problem: How could the Lady Commodores replace the production and leadership that left along with the graduated senior class?
She knew it would be no easy task, but senior middle blocker Ashley Smith went to Wenzel and requested that her coach trust her enough to allow her to play all the way around, rather than be substituted in the back row. (more…) (October 26, 2011, Page 1B)
Her assumptions were correct.
The Lady Bruins were as good as their 16-match winning streak suggested and they did just enough to eliminate Lafayette from the first round of the Class I playoffs with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-20) victory. (October 5, 2011, Page 6)

The Lafayette volleyball team earned a lopsided victory at Byhalia on Thursday, topping the Lady Indians 3-0 (25-15, 25-8, 25-7) to improve to 6-4 overall. The Lafayette volleyball team faced off against a somewhat familiar foe on Tuesday.
After being over-powered on Aug. 25 at Lafayette, the Lady Blue Devils played a competitive match in the return trip on Thursday, falling to the Lady Commodores 3-1 (26-24, 25-18, 24-26, 25-21).
Even if the end result was still a loss, it was obvious at Water Valley’s auxiliary gym that the Lady Blue Devils have made significant strides as a team under first-year coach Casey Clouse. (September 9, 2011, Page 8A)
After dropping the first two sets, Lafayette rallied to claim a 3-2 (22-25, 22-25, 25-14, 25-22, 15-9) victory at the LHS gym. (September 2, 2011, Page 9A)
The Lady Commodores volleyball squad made quick work of Water Valley on Thursday, cruising to a 3-0 (25-8, 25-13, 25-9) win at the LHS gym.
For Lafayette (2-3 overall), Thursday’s match provided coach Rachel Wenzel an opportunity to tweak her starting lineup. (August 26, 2011, Page 7A)
