Lafayette’s 6-1 win over North Pontotoc Thursday not only gave the Commodores their second straight win in tennis, it also gave them a 1-0 start in Division 2-4A play. Deep roster may help LHS overcome some inexperience
A deep roster is something Lafayette tennis coach Debbie Swindoll will help make a difference for her younger group of players in 2013. A year after the most successful seasons in LHS tennis history, the Commodores are more youthful, Swindoll said. Gone are four individual state champions and standouts such as Mallory Davis and Barron Pruitt, the mixed doubles team that won the 4A individual state championship last year. Former LHS standout receives honor from MTA
Former Lafayette High tennis standout Mallory Davis was selected by the Mississippi Tennis Association as a recipient of the George Wilkinson Memorial Award. Davis, a freshman tennis player at Meridian Community College, won the award given to a top male or female junior player who exemplifies the qualities of composure under physical stress and emotional discipline in recognition of their desire, integrity, perseverance and maturity, both on and off the court.
