Vance provides leadership, numbers for WVHS
WATER VALLEY — The clicking sound in Haley Vance’s ankle was loud enough for her to hear it. Her final basketball game as a Water Valley Lady Blue Devil resulted in a sprained ankle and while that didn’t make an impact for the girls basketball team, a bum ankle wasn’t a good thing for the softball team and first-year coach Casey Clouse.
Fortunately for Vance and the rest of her teammates, she was able to recover from the sprained ankle in time, and once she got her timing back at the plate, she was able deliver a great performance in her final year wearing blue and white. (June 7, 2012, Page 1B)
Lafayette’s 7th-inning rally comes up short
The Lafayette Lady Commodores may have been eliminated from the Class 4A playoffs last Friday, but that didn’t prevent them from showing heart late in Wednesday’s home game against Lewisburg.

Lafayette perfects small ball, tops Oxford at home
A successful approach at the plate for Lafayette paid off for the Lady Commodores on Monday night in their 13-1 win over Oxford. After falling behind 1-0 to the Lady Chargers in the first inning, LHS answered with nine runs in the second and four more in the third thanks to some successful bunting early coupled with some blasts from players such as Corey Hollis, Katrina Wilson, Kendall Glass and Rae Drewery.
