Lafayette boys sweep Winona, N. Pontotoc
Lafayette’s boys knocked off Winona and North Pontotoc this weekend to improve to 4-2 on the year. Friday, the LHS ‘Dores defeated Winona in penalty kicks to earn a 3-2 win. Houghton, LHS unload on Horn Lake
Lafayette’s Alley Houghton recorded a hat trick before 20 minutes had elapsed off the clock in Tuesday’s soccer match with Horn Lake at William L. Buford Stadium. Houghton finished with five goals overall in the Lady Commodores’ 7-1 victory over the Lady Eagles.
The win improved the young Lady Commodores to 5-0 on the year and brought another smile to coach Melinda Scruggs’ face. (November 28, 2012, Page 7)
Commodores can’t hold onto early lead against Eagles
A strong push out of the gates only lasted so long for the Lafayette Commodores in their match with Horn Lake Tuesday night at William L. Buford Stadium. The Commodores scored the first two goals of the game but were unable to maintain the lead as Horn Lake rallied late to win 5-3. (November 28, 2012, Page 7)
LHS girls blank Tishomingo County
The Lafayette Lady Commodores soccer team improved to 4-0 over the weekend with a 3-0 whitewashing at Tishomingo County Friday. Lafayette boys start season in winning fashion
The Lafayette boys soccer team got their season started on the right foot Tuesday, defeating Grenada 3-0 on the road. LHS girls start season 2-0
The Lafayette Lady Commodores opened their season 2-0 after knocking off Saltillo 3-2 and South Pontotoc 6-0 on Saturday. Alley Houghton scored all three goals against Saltillo and chipped in another four goals against SPHS. Abbey Pate scored Lafayette’s other two goals against the Lady Cougars. LHS returns to the pitch Tuesday at Grenada. Lafayette’s boys will be making their debut against the Chargers. (November 12, 2012, Page 5B)
